Material Development Engineer (m/f/d)

To complement our research and development team, we are looking for an experienced professional with broad technical interest and background in the development and application of photocurable materials.

Job description

You will develop, formulate, and evaluate photoresists for direct-write 3D laser lithography based on two-photon polymerization as well as photocurable cladding materials for optical elements such as 3D-printed waveguides and micro-lenses. The materials will be tailored to customer-specific applications in the field of integrated optics. Your tasks will comprise the following aspects:

  • Formulation, testing, and evaluation of photoresists and photocurable cladding materials for different applications in the field of integrated optics
  • Sourcing and qualification of raw materials
  • Development and implementation of material characterization and evaluation techniques with a special emphasis on long-term reliability
  • Interaction with and support of customers in material-related matters

Your profile

You should have a Master or PhD degree in Chemistry, Material Science, Polymer Physics, or a comparable qualification. Preferred candidates are used to work independently within a multi-disciplinary team and contribute one or more of the following skills and experiences:

  • Solid theoretical and experimental background in the fields of photoresists or photocurable polymers
  • Proven experience in development, formulation, and characterization of photocurable materials for industrial applications
  • Experience in material testing and qualification
  • Basic knowledge in optics and photonics

Application and Process Development Engineer (m/f/d)

To complement our application and process development team, we are looking for an experienced professional with broad interest and solid technical background in the fields of photonics and advanced micro- and nanofabrication. 

Job description

You will conceive and design functional 3D micro-optical structures such as waveguides and lenses and realize them using our 3D lithography tools. Besides hands-on implementation and development of fabrication processes, your work will comprise tight interaction with international customers at the technological forefront of integrated optics. Your tasks will comprise the following aspects:

  • Design and simulation of 3D-printed freeform waveguides and micro-optical elements
  • Development and implementation of customer-specific fabrication processes
  • Customer support and process transfer to customer lithography tools
  • Design and implementation of reliability testing and quality control procedures for 3D-printed photonic structures

Your profile

You should have a Bachelor, Master, or PhD degree in Optics & Photonics, Electrical Engineering, Microsystems Engineering, Physics, or a comparable qualification. Preferred candidates are used to work independently within a multi-disciplinary team and contribute one or more of the following skills and experiences:

  • Design, fabrication, and testing of integrated optical components
  • Development of fabrication processes for photonic devices, ideally based on 3D lithography
  • Experience in managing of technology development projects, ideally in an industrial environment
  • Strong communication skills, ideally combined with experience in customer interaction

Software Engineer (m/f/d)

To complement our software team, we are looking for an experienced professional with broad technical interest and background in the field of 3D structuring. Candidates should have a strong affinity for implementing software for complex physical systems.  

Job description

You will design, implement, and verify control and application software for advanced 3D lithography systems. Your tasks will comprise the following aspects:

  • Designing and enhancing software architectures in C# and CUDA
  • Implementing algorithms for processing of 3D objects, comprising, e.g., advanced operations on mesh-based representations for efficient slicing and hatching
  • Defining, implementing, and advancing the deployment process for the entire product package

Your profile

You should have a Bachelor or Master degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics or a comparable qualification. Preferred candidates are used to work independently within a multi-disciplinary team and contribute one or more of the following skills and experiences:

  • At least 3 years of experience in industrial software development in C#, python or CUDA, ideally related to 3D printing processes
  • Solid mathematical background with profound understanding of 3D meshes and computational geometry
  • Experience in deployment management of large software projects covering the aspects of designing a robust architecture and automated tests and defining a solid release process
  • Affinity for device-related software development

Systems Engineer (m/f/d)

To complement our development team, we are looking for an experienced professional with broad technical interest and background in the field of optics, opto-electronics, or opto-mechanics.  

Job description

You will develop, implement, and test advanced 3D lithography systems in tight cooperation with our partners with a special emphasis on industrial viability. Your work aims at novel functionalities and improved performance while accounting for reliable installation and maintenance of the systems. Your will tightly interact with international customers at the technological forefront of photonics. Your tasks will comprise the following aspects:

  • Development and continuous improvement of an industrial 3D lithography system in tight cooperation with our software and process development teams
  • Specification, sourcing, and qualification of system components
  • Design and setup of optical sub-systems and high-precision motion control
  • Definition of test procedures for verification of system functionality
  • Coordination of fabrication and installation of new systems for customers in tight cooperation with our partners

Your profile

You should have a Bachelor, Master, or PhD degree in Optics & Photonics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Microsystems Engineering, Physics or a comparable qualification. Preferred candidates are used to work independently within a multi-disciplinary team and contribute one or more of the following skills and experiences:

  • Experience in development of industrial systems and system automation
  • Experience with optical systems and high-precision motion control
  • Experience in automation of industrial fabrication processes
  • Programming experience in C, C#, LabView or similar
